From Behind Bars to Rising Star

Terrance Coffie started his professional education behind bars, went on to earn his GED, graduate from Bronx Community College, and later NYU’s Silver School of School of Social Work. With the support of a transitional program called The Doe Fund and the love of his family Coffie received “The Excellence In Leadership Award” and “The Presidents Service Award” from NYU. Coffie has since been accepted to attend graduate school and has helped start “The Pathways Program”, which helps young men lacking resources and connects them to educational opportunities. Many of the men he mentors have gone on to graduate with degrees of their own.
